I am considering a combat (tactical) shotgun build. I was wondering what problems others have run into while they did this. For instance lack of parts for a particular model or things to stay away from. Just looking for info before I buy the gun to start. I know for sure I am going to start with a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 platform. I know tactical shotguns can be bought new, but I kind of want to do the build. Thanks for any info or suggestions.

Watch out for the newer Mossberg 500a they have a molded one part forearm... they are just like the ones they also use on the cheaper model maverick other than that I have heard of no other issues with any builds. I just built a 500a with top folding stock, flashlight, laser and uv light combo... Now looking back I wish I would have got a 870 you can do a lot more with them...

Hey Guys ,,Dont Know If it's true R Not ,But i jus got a H&R pump an it is suposed to B a copy of the 870 rem ,&to me it looks dam close,& IT WAS REAL REASONALBE ,,,THAT MAY b a CHEEP start,, IT SEAMS TO WORK REAL GOOD TOO ,, Ya might Want to look Eny way ..Butch

What model #?? Thanks for the info I will have to look into it. Editing this post to show what I found. I guess this is the route I may go to save a bunch of pennies still doing some homework, but found this page check it out.

Got a trade for a mossberg 500 12ga I am in the build process now. I will post some pics when done. I have some decisions to make on what exactly I want to do, but I have at least got the platform to start.

Sweet if you go with a top folding stock they make a safety extension so its not as hard to turn the safety on and off. I will take some pics of mine I am still trying to decide what to do with the forend...
